He has been known for outlandish calls. That's OK, as long as you're right. But when you stop being right (as in his case), your calls don't have much cred.

The move to 1X is unique from a carrier's perspective because it doubles voice capacity, but only for 1X handsets. At least that is the way I understand it. In addition to the normal financial considerations of getting a new technology into the consumers hands, there is the added capacity incentive. Each carrier's situation will be different depending on their individual model for 1X services and their spectrum usage, but it may well be so compelling to get the 1X handsets out that they basically give them away. I am certain there will be very attractive upgrade offers.

Not sure how to quantify this into a .50 quarter, but I suspect this is what TRJ is thinking.
