I'm really amazed that STILL--even after all the recent hype and articles on "optical wireless" there is never any mention of Cablefree Solutions Inc's system, which is in production and shipping according to the company. It's like the people that write these articles just take the most recent article on the topic and rearrange the words, and don't really investigate it further. Terabeam always seems to get top billing yet they are furthest behind w/r/t the other players. MRV's Jolt is another that seldom gets any mention. Gotta wonder.

In the article you posted:
>>And they don't require spectrum regulated by the Federal Communications Commission.

...YET

>>The secrecy of companies like Lucent and TeraBeam may only feed the doubts of carriers that have been reluctant to field free-space technology in the past.

A very good point.

Whats wrong with this Piece? (post 338) NO JOLT, the MRVC company who defined the first mesh systems.

Thats the major problem with most of these free lance authors, their journalism is akin to propaganda, they conveniently forget the most significant player in this field..JOLT an MRVC company who has more of these links installed than all the other players combined.

JOLT is sold heavily by the Aussie communications powerhouse; DAVENET, with many installations in Singapore, Hong Kong and Australia. Davenet is coming to the US Soon.

Also Keep in mind that JOLT has several Patents pending which could affect all other players in the field.
