WaveRider CEO Sees 'Tremendous' Upside On Tiny Mkt
Share

Dow Jones Newswires

NEW YORK -- WaveRider Communications Inc. (WAVC) Chief Executive Bruce Sinclair says
the
wireless Internet access product market is growing so rapidly that his company can get rich on
just a
tiny slice.

"It's such a small market relative to the growth opportunity. Our belief is if we can target a 5% to
10%
market share, the upside growth opportunity for us as a company and our investors is
tremendous," said
Sinclair in a CNBC interview Thursday.

The market is growing by about 100% a quarter and is likely to be worth some $7 billion to $10
billion
over the next three to five years, he said.

"We have a very aggressive business plan over the next two years and expect significant
growth in the
latter half of this year and next year," Sinclair added.

WaveRider reported 1999 revenue of $1.8 million, and analyst estimates for 2000 are in the
$20-million
range.

While Sinclair would not say whether those estimates were on target, he said, "We certainly
have an
order rate that will exceed that ($20-million figure)."

"As we roll out our products throughout this year, markets like Japan and China are certainly
showing
... an appetite for these products," he added.

WaveRider said Thursday that it began installing its NCL135 system in China as part of its
agreement
with Beijing's Interstellar Electronic Information Co.

The company's stock rose 10.6%, or 7/8, to 9 5/32 recently on volume of 4.5 million shares,
compared
to average daily volume of 556,300 shares.
