SanDisk's current microcontroller consumption exceeds a million devices per month, and is growing rapidly, said Eli Harari, president and chief executive of the Santa Clara, Calif.-based flash-memory storage-card manufacturer. "We cannot get enough wafers, either on the flash or controller side, to meet demand for our products," Harari said in a press conference last week. "We are looking to bring on dependable, good foundry suppliers, in addition to our solid business relationship in Taiwan with UMC."

I think this speaks to the issues of oversupply.
SanDisk is in the flash card business, not in
the low density embedded applications business.

Eli is saying they hope to ship 12+ million flash
cards this year and we know thay they are only
meeting 60% of their requests due to allocation issues
which we are all aware of.

If my notes from the Shareholders' Meeting are correct
the $200 million of product revenues from MMC/SDMC alone
should put us close to the half billion dollar mark for 2000.
