Newspaper companies are doing one of two things Paul. They are either investing in the newspaper business, or getting out of it. Or at least CEASING to invest in it. Gannett and Knight Ridder are buying ALL the papers. I don't LIKE that strategy. After thinking about it some, I have decided to go with diversified newspaper companies, in my case WPO, rather than pure plays. WPO is WAY undervalued (check out the latest presentation on their web site.) Every last $$ is going into their fast growing education business, Internet sites, and their cable properties.

SSP would be my other choice. Gannett is perhaps the finest pure operator though, and cheap because people see them betting the farm on the future of the newspaper and they don't like it.

If you like OUT OF FAVOR Paul, you'll like Gannett. <G> If you want another ECP, take a look at LEE. It is ECP waiting to happen. <G>
