Wouldn't you agree that AMD buying $400 million in debt says something good about how this quarter is going?

It's clear to me there's piles of money laying around. Time to retire some debt.

just checked amd filings and amd had 850DM guaranteed loan at exchange rate of ~2 that would take care of the difference (~500M

I doubt that AMD would have exposed itself to currency fluctuations from any loan. I assume that AMD owns a derivative position which hedges against the DM exposure, and so in the end the loan would have the same USD value as before.
