Uncle Frank- yes, absolutely, I couldn't agree more. It's his company, and everyone should be looking to him for leadership. The stock and its investors are under siege,
he's got to be aware of this fact. He could turn this around- he has the cash and the clout- and he needs to do so now, IMO.

Hello UF,

With tons of money in the banQ, and share prices dropping like a stone, I think a billion dollar stock buy back is in order in addition to quick clarification of qcom's position. I know Dr. J just did that recently, but it needs to be done again and VERY LOUDLY

The last time I suggested a stock buy back for QCOM, everyone boo me. I have always thought a buy back program was a good idea. In this case it would help 2 ways. First to support the stock price and next start to make a take over harder.

Thank You

JK

PS. I know QCOM has good anti-takeover measures.

Uncle Frank, I am trying to think of reasons that someone would not buy.

Shoot this reasoning down for me:

3G is about a year away. Either late 2001 or early 2002. Therefore manufacturers do not want to invest in creating any more inventory of the current technology than they have to. Manufacturers have to be asking themselves: Why push demand up and cause ourself to invest in more production line equipment to make old models when we know we will have to tear most of the equipment apart in a year. The equipment won't even be paid for. Just-in-time inventory is fine. We should save most of our investment for the 3G roll out.

Because of this sales (and patent payments) will not be so fantastic for the next year. Therefore QCOM stock will languish until late 2001 before moving up. Therefore why not put your investment in something else until late 2001?

<<in addition to quick clarification of qcom's position.>>

re buyback, little chance, IMO, and not a particularly good use of money. (Think, it could be spent outbribing the recipients of GSM largesse...) Re the clarification, is 12 days quick enough? I mean, everybody will be watching during the conference call....
