Here is my guess; you can check the spring and throttle workings all you want when you're at rest...but doing it a 160+mph (my guess on top speed just before they lift) can't be done. I'm wondering if the hoods under aerodynamic load are bending down on the air cleaner and causing the jam when they goto lift???

Many local small tracks in my area require a toe loop on the throttle pedal. That way...when you "lift" the loop catches your toes and moves the throttle back if for some reason a spring breaks or whatever....but you've gotta be quick,,, obviously.

I've had a stuck throttle before...not fun :-(

The only reason I've heard against using them is cost. It amazes me that they can put on a set of tires at $1600+\- for a couple of laps and not think twice about it. I installed a Howell FI system (all GM parts) on my Jeep for $1100.

Hung throttles have been blamed for numerous wrecks, maybe it's just a scapegoat for driver error.
