Dear LindyBill: I agree with you on QCOM. The only thing that could cause it to jump appreciably IMHO at this time is if DT were to be able to aquire FON which would likely give QCOM more strength in the European market. But, that seems unlikely to me, and if DT aquires C&W (which is the latest rumor) it would actually probably hurt QCOM. Sort of like playing dominoes isnt it? JDN

Whoa!--40??? The timing king speaks (you and MarginMike), I listen. I was going to add at 48, but then WDIK, I'm now in at 90. Chart isn't looking good, more FUD to come, soft earnings possible, WDMA misperceptions inevitable even without FUD, and of course tax loss selling. Oh, I almost forgot G*. I should just take my tax loss now and expect to re-buy more on sale later.

LindyBill: If I remember correctly you played poker with the "Duke".

The situation with Qualcomm is a classic "when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em" situation.

You are folding.

I am holding.

Why?

My suggestion is that the stronger risk management play is to assume that since we know that Qualcomm is a CDMA voice gorilla now and a prospective data CDMA gorilla sometime in the relatively near future, the better option is to be in, not out.

While I agree with you that I do not see a major rise in stock price for Qualcomm until the fall, I frankly am not sure when that rise will happen.

All I am sure of is that it will.

So holding makes sense to me. Lesser risk.

Best.

QCOM - I would not buy back into Q above 40 in the near future.

I really think the price of the stock is going to get beat up some more.

Dont say that. I have had a tough time meeting margins so far.
At 40 I would really have to give in and give up on QCOM for ever !!!!!
