John, I just saw the Maria Bartiromo interview with Barrett, and that writeup I posted was pretty much right on. When she mentioned Intel as the world's largest communications co. (in the future) he didn't bat an eyelash! 6 billion spent buying other companies in that area, and sounded like more to come.

Mentioned 2 great new products coming out in 2H as what will keep Intel ahead. Itanium and Willamette of course. On the latter, he said it would clearly establish Intel as the performance leader in the 32 bit space.

Craig also said cellular and flash products were sold out. When asked how far into the future micros are sold out, he said Intel only takes orders for a quarter ahead. Obviously that is sold out. Expects seasonally strong 2H. Later said demand is huge.

More that I posted on AMAT:

Message 14014211

Intel and AMAT top picks in their respective sectors by Dan Niles! Niles called Intel a "great stock", didn't call any other stock that.

Tony

John re <<Isn't a moderate(d) AMD thread an oxymoron?>>

Not sure.

The old thread turned into social club and the battle field between "AMDroid" and "Intelabees". It had very little investment info value and what ever that value was, it was not worth reading through all the post.

The idea of the new thread (http://www.siliconinvestor.com/subject.aspx?subjectid=36138) was brought up by couple guys, I liked it and decided to give it a shot. It is our intention that a new thread help people profit on AMD (long or short) by being a centralized location to research AMD. It seems to be working OK. I understand it ruined a fun for a few folks but that is not my fault. The rules of the thread are no different than a general SI (uninforced) rules, if anything, it is more laxed.
