Tim, Re: The fact that people use religious ideas and organizations for selfish ends does not mean that organized religions are a sham. Agreed-- they are a sham because their claims are either not substantiated, or already refuted. 'Faith' roughly translates as 'belief without evidence' or even 'despite evidence to the contrary'. It is irrational, although surprising numbers of people manage to derive some comfort from the happy-endings most of them provide. Doug
