My parents arrived last night. They live out west, but they travelled across the United States over a 5 week period to get to the east coast. They hit something like 18 different states from California, throughout the south, and then up the east coast. Their most important observation? Help Wanted signs absolutely everywhere. Dad is a recently retired businessman who enjoys talking to business owners. Many told him that they have never had such trouble finding and keeping staff. The kicker was when they were turned away from a half-empty restaurant in Atlanta because the restaurant did not have enough staff. Understand that this was not due to people off sick or somesuch. --Allan
