I have not found an a la carte menu. The 7- course "tasting menu" is $79. The 4-course pre-theatre menu is $36........

I have a confirmation on Le Francais, from Timeout.com:

Le Français
269 S Milwaukee Avenue, Wheeling (847 541 7470)
Metra Wheeling. Open sittings 6pm Mon-Thur; 6pm, 9pm Fri, Sat; closed Sun. Main courses $30. Credit AmEx, DC, MC, V.

Once tagged the best restaurant in America, Le Français still provides destination dining that attracts fly-ins to nearby Palwaukee Airport. And now that master chef Jean Banchet has returned to the helm of the kitchen, its star is again on the rise. Think classic ingredients, classic presentation and classic cooking methods, all done with a simpler, cleaner, more contemporary spin.

And I have a quote for entrees at Everest:

Everest
440 S LaSalle Street, at One Financial Place, The Loop (312 663 8920)
CTA LaSalle (Brown/Orange/Purple). Open 5.30-9.30pm Tue-Thur; 5.30-10pm Fri, Sat; closed Mon, Sun. Main courses $30-$45. Credit AmEx, DC, Disc, MC, V.

Another of Chicago's top restaurants - figuratively and literally - sits atop the 40th floor of a building in the Loop, commanding a predictably spectacular view. It's a romantic spot - the sumptuous decor includes leopard-print rugs, fresh flowers and candlelight - while the contemporary French menu reveals the Alsatian roots of superchef Jean Joho. A dégustation menu is available.

The discrepancy is so large, I would suggest that you simply misremembered, and paid about $200 at one place, and $300 at the other, for dinner for two. It was probably awhile back.........
