When taken in its entirety, the information presented in the press implies that WCII will continue to purchase AFCI's UMC1000 as its last mile platform, but utilize LU's IAD interface and not AFCI's GVN-acquired IAD interface.

While the news is not 100% positive for AFCI on the margin, it is nevertheless positive and necessarily not negative as WCII's commitment to the UMC platform remains intact. The news piece was release to quell concerns that AFCI was on the way out with WCII, which is emphatically not the case as evidenced by the news wire.

If anything can be concluded from this development is that the decision to go with LU's IAD was likely made some time ago, and that early on in the design process, not only with WCII, but likely with SBC as well, it became apparent to AFCI that it needed its offer its own IAD OEM component. Hence, the GVN acquisition, which at the time it was announced I viewed as a very important & critical acquisition. Going forward, I don't think your going to see the same piece of business slip from AFCI's hands again.
