BUT Market Makers can use ECN's to route there orders thru too. They do this everyday on INCA,ARCA,ISLD and REDI
showing fake BID and ASK amounts to either scare the shorts or longs whichever the case it is to move the stock in there direction.

I see the manipulation you describe quite often:

On ISland sometimes huge bid orders at a certain price show up and a few seconds later those orders have disappeared and a large number of sell orders at or below the bid price show up. After that the stock often drops ....

This also happens the other way around.

Not to mention that most firms sell order flow. I saw statistics a couple years ago that 98 percent of orders were between MMs on the Nasdaq.

Eski,I've noticed a lot of spoofing on QCOM yesterday.
On the bid side at 56, many blocks 25,000 -35,000.
Regards,el

There's nothing fake about them.

They aren't fake. If you hit them, they will be executed.

Or are you refering-to the secret "don't execute" check-box that only the market-makers can use?

If so, please meet me on the grassy knoll, and we'll discuss it further...

Sure, market-makers can use ECNs. But when they do, you and they are on equal ground. This isn't manipulation - it just means that they are smarter than you.
