<<Why are arabs so hell bent of warring with each other and with israel?>>

As an arab who happens to be muslim (there are many jews and christian arabs also)I can tell you 90% of the fighting is out of ignorance. Arabs have historically always argued and fought one another.

However, the topic of Israel is obviously quite sensitive for the arabs from lebanon and palestine. They were evicted from their homes and their land was taken away. I don't think any religion espouses idealogy that you need to transgress over another human being for materialistic things such as land or money. The zionists are responsible for that, i hate to use the term jews because many jews are not zionists and the two are very different groups. Many jews simply want to live in peace with their arab muslim and arab christian neighbors. However when any group becomes the agressor, the other parties will obviously fight back.

I do not wish to bore the thread with this and other offtopic discussions. If you wish to continue the discussion, feel free to send me a PM.

Bill,

I share a lot of your comments on dangers of organized religion.

The major problem however is with people not with the religions themselves.

Unfortunately human beings are imperfect.

Communism in theory sounds rational and a potentially leading to a "perfect society". Unfortunately as implemented it was a crock of s*** and exact opposite of the theory.

The same can be said for religion. Almost all modern religions in the ideal are ok with me. Unfortunately as has been practised it can be shown to be root of a lot of evil, war, murder and mayhem.

But the problem is with the pesky humans not with the ideal religious beliefs IMHO.

Secondly, as far as Arab science you are attempting to tie 2 independent events to make your point.

Yes ARAB science/culture flourished and waned. And yes over time the moslem's have grown more intolerant.

The same can be said about the ROMAN's they flourished and then waned. As well as the Greeks, Chinese etc.

Trying to tie the natural organic rise and fall of cultures with rise of organized religion is incorrect.

In fact the rennaisance occured in one of the most repressed religious periods in human history.

regards,

Kash
