Steve, I favor JDSU to SDLI due to the narrowing discount on the SDLI shares. I believe it is down to about 14% from a higher level yesterday. If this discount increases to about 17%, I would be tempted to do a switch.

I am taking SDLI stock's ability to hold up while JDSU declines as a sign that the selling is just about over. If the deal was that bad, I believe both stocks would have tanked. As we get closer to SDLI's earnings next week as well as JDSU's the following week, the stock should ramp up.

I am convinced JDSU management knows what they are doing in relation to this deal. One has to remember that it was not just Kevin Kalkhoven that was responsible for getting Optical Coating and ETEK. I don't think we have seen any big departures from the company's strategic thinkers.
I am going to trust them and not the expert analysis that we read about on the newswires. I don't think the analyst community could understand the business any better than Josef and company.

I bet there is a lot of shorting of JDSU on this deal, excluding the ARBs. Once that starts reversing, we could see big one day moves.

I think Yahoo will probably demonstate what happens when traders short a stock too much. In addition, all the nervous money is out of that one as well. Looking for Yahoo to fly.
Of course, expecting the same of JDSU in the near term. Let them short it now and watch an explosion to the upside later. IMHO, once the downward move stops (maybe today), the momentum will return to the upside as the weak hands would have sold out.

good luck
