Just a thought.
Baxter has access to both PC/APC (Immuno) and BPI (Xoma). No patent on the combination of them would ever make it in the U.S. because of obviousness. I assume this is why LLY dropped (?) that patent application.
Example: one cannot patent the combination of two antihypertensive agents for further reduction of blood pressure.
