alan,

My 2 cents on putting:

1. As I address the ball, the last time I look at the hole, I always say to myself "Boy is that hole big, and this is a real easy putt". I then look at the ball and start my stroke. Does two things, builds confidence and gets your mind off mechanics as you stroke. I don't know if this will work with anyone else.

2. Old advice, keep your head still until well after the putt has left the club. I think there is a direct correlation to how long my head is still after I putt and how often I make the putt. (BTW, this is really important on those 3 to 4 footers that, when you miss, you want to be struck by lightning and die on the spot)

If your buddies expect you to 3 putt, I bet that's on your mind when you get to the green. Not good.
