Brascan is the parent company of Noranda. I assume that its strength simply reflects the strength of Noranda. But why is Noranda so strong ?

For the purposes of this thread we needn't asK ! Both are quality stocks and both appear to have broken out.

I've had a position forever. None of Brascan's stuff is sexy -- no tech story unless you're willing to dig -- e.g. Brookfield has some interesting Internet initiatives. But mostly it's rocks and wood. Worse, it pays a high, reliable dividend, which has been death in this market for the last year. Anyway, here's hoping the stock is doing something.
