The income tax was seen as an invasion of privacy.

Why is it that new taxes are created for "emergencies", but they are never rolled back when the "emergency" is over?

Do we live in a state of perpetual war?

There isn't an entire plank dedicated to abolishing slavery and sweatshops. There is a plank devoted entirely to implementing a progressive income tax.

OK, if you'll admit we're all Marxists now, I'll drop it and move on.
