An American has responsibilities. He/she has the responsibility to conduct his/her life with dignity, honor and the responsibilities attendant with those that come with living in a free society where men and women are considered basically good people unless proved otherwise. The responsibility also exists to respect the inalienable rights of other individuals.

The individual does NOT have the responsibility to be beholden to the State, or an economic vassal of the State, or the property of the State. Not one second of an individual's life is owned by anyone else or any organization. The State does not have the right to demand vigorish from the labors and creative ventures of an individual - that is an indentured servant. The State does not have the right to force an individual to serve for the State in any capacity, even in the Armed Forces -- yes, that system too was immoral, unethical and anti-liberty.

The State (if moral) exists to protect the individual's rights and property.
