Don ---if true why would China need GSM ?
ALSO---However, experts have noted that Qualcomm stands to benefit no matter which 3G standard is adopted, for all contending standards incorporate CDMA, a technology developed by Qualcomm and from which it earns royalty revenues.

You are missing the point, Don. With international roaming, when you switch your phone on in Beijing, or Singapore, or Frankfurt, snap, it works. Not only you can start making calls immediately, but also the girl you met in a bar last Saturday in Gdansk, Poland, can call you. Not to mention your wife and kids. And your brother-in-law who needs a loan.

Its like magic, this GSM world. Its also been around for about ten years.
