I have never heard of Sloan Coffin or Dorothy Day. I asked for prominent white preachers who were supportive of the Civil rights movement. I saw a lot of preachers who used the Bible to justify the separation of the races though.

I already said that religion provided the inspiration for the large cathedrals, etc. They didn't provide the engineering.

It provided the inspiration and fired the imagination enough to undertake enormous projects such as cathedral building.

I wonder about the people who provided the grunt labor, if they were really inspired or if the men in robes were using some more threatening manner of persuasion.
