The Salomon Smith Barney investment paper stinks of market manipulation.

Look at the action after July 5, 2000...

I have read articles via links which indicate SSB bought a large number of shares in SMH HOLDRS (of which AMD and NSM, two companies featured prominently in the investment position paper, help to compose) shortly after the tech sector fell. They now have handsome (multi-million dollar gains) on that transaction less than two weeks later.

I hope they are investigated by the SEC.

Art: You're right, the market for 8-Mbit flash is totally different than the market for 256M-bit flash chips.
Demand has overwhelmed supply for the higher densities.
How long that will last is always the big question. I think(maybe hope) it is going to last for several more years.
