The Apex are blades, but the Apex Plus are a cavity back of sorts. The weight of the cavity is substanitally in the sole of the club in an attempt to lower the center of gravity.

I hear lots of complaints about the Hogan shafts too. Not so much in the flex issue you have being between flexes, but on ball flight and consistency though the irons. Hogans can be customed ordered with True Temper DG shafts. Probably a nice bill to go with that order though. Hogan stuff doesn't come cheap.
