Corvis has recently purchased Algety, a French company with roots in Alcatel's engineering division

Actually the technology roots (and people) came from the CNET, France Telecom's Research & Development effort (sort of like the pre-divestiture Bell Labs). There is no Alcatel link, and in fact they must be kicking themselves for letting the technology slip away.
