agreed....they need to clear the decks.... but I would suggest that even a qtr point (and once you start does it stop there)......could mean a lot to companies and individuals hanging on these last few years by their fingernails......

case in point.....an individual I know thought during the peak of the real estate portion of the bubble he had a billion dollar property and built a building..... on paper he is now worth MINUS 10's of millions and has been short of foreclosure since the early days of the downdraft.... why then have his lien holders not foreclosed???? in this case and everywhere else.... because....they would have to mark to market......by the same token....if rates begin to get juggled in this nationwide balancing act.... thousands of tight rope walking debtors and balance sheet writers could quite conceiveably lose their balance.... you know the rest....
