Here's a page from Intel's website explaining their type of flash memory. As stated before, this does NOT compete with SNDK:

Sam,

If you had listened to the CC, you would have heard Dr. H say that companies like SST, Intel and AMD don't make the kind of flash that competes with Sandisk. There are no overlaps.

You're right, Intel will probably never compete with Sandisk in the removable storage Flash market. And thankyou for your notes from the cc and trying to drum this point into my thick brain! My logic was that Intel is bringing on a lot of .18um capacity -- something that Sandisk has zero of at this point -- plus the rumors of a slowing of demand in the mobile phone segment, which led me to think that Intel might think of looking towards other applications. And while this could possibly happen, I think that you are right that the Intel technology is not geared for such a switch.

Eli says its unbelievable!

I find the confusion and ignorance Very believable.

I have been following SNDK for about 4 years. SNDK is
an outstanding engineering company!

They are improving at sales.

They have proven lawyers!

They suck at Forecasting.

They do an adequate job of writing press releases.

They suck at getting their story told by the investing and main stream press in a way that is not confusing.

Who gets paid to reduce the confusion? I don't think
Ausdauer gets paid to reduce the confusion. I think his
payback is a rising stock price.

Why doesn't SNDK have a toll free conference call number?

Where is the replay number?

The operator on the conference call was inept.

Make it easier for the investing community to hear their story and maybe there would be less confusion!

Eli, you are to blame for the ignorance and confusion in
the investing community.

Since they are booked so far in advance, why not move up their quarter reporting to the first week of the month when
there are less companies reporting? Less competition in getting the message out. More of a chance to get the senior analysts on the calls instead of their flunkies.

Why did Niles leave Robby?

Why hasn't Niles repeated his strong buy rating on SNDK?

What is Lehman's relationship with Fidelity?

Who underwrote the SNDK secondaries?

Is Isreal giving a grant (read, not loan) to
Tower Semiconductor? Does that sound like socialism or
fascism to anyone else?

"This quote deserves to be repeated:
<< I can't believe how many people don't understand our business. It is crazy. I just
listened to the SSTI call saying that 80% of their sales came from 2Mbit flash.
We sell 256Mbit flash. Toshiba, Sandsik, Hitatchi, and Samsung are the only
companies that make this, and all of the other flash capacity being added isn't
going to alleviate the situation. >>
That was pretty close to his exact words, though he went on and was even more emphatic about how little people differentiated between Sandisk's flash and the flash that INTC, AMD, ATML, SSTI, and others sell. I think, but am not sure that the next analyst who spoke apologized for his own ignorance on that point. Some people will have to go do some homework. Eli said something like the "ignorance and misinformation about our company and the whole sector is unbelievable" (his emphasis)."

More on Eli saying it is Unbelievable:

Eli, The confusion sure is believable! Your Annual Report adds to the confusion:

"We have entered into patent cross-license agreements with several of our
leading competitors including ...Intel"

" Our primary competitors include:

o storage flash chip producers, such as Hitachi, Samsung and Toshiba;

o socket flash, linear flash and component manufacturers, such as Advanced
Micro Devices, Atmel, Intel, Macronix, Micron Technology, Mitsubishi,
Sharp Electronics and ST Microelectronics; and

o module or card assemblers, such as Lexar Media, M-Systems, Pretec,
Simple Technology, Sony Corporation, Kingston Technology, Panasonic,
Silicon Storage Technology, TDK Corporation, Matsushita Battery, Delkin
Devices, Inc., Silicon Tek and Viking Components, who combine
controllers and flash memory chips developed by others into flash
storage cards."

"Competing products have been introduced that promote industry standards that
are different from our CompactFlash and MultiMediaCard products, including
... M-System's Diskonchip for embedded storage applications ."

Go back and read Jay's synopsis of the call, he reproduced a very important statement (repeated in my own small addition to the Thread's collective notes, because it is so important). The "ignorance and misinformation" about the segmentation of the various flash markets that currently exists in the minds of the analysts and the public alike is "unbelieveable", he said."
