Hi Dave B; Re DDR, RDRAM and embedded...

Of course we know that graphics went with DDR. Beyond that, the stuff that needs to be very easy on power will go DDR first. Both DDR and RDRAM use lower voltages, and therefore much lower power than SDRAM. Consequently, there is considerable interest in DDR (the cheaper and higher bandwidth) in the mobile world.

Transmeta is a big fan of DDR: Transmeta chips support double-data-rate DRAM, which McKernan said will yield another savings to the overall power budget. "You will see a lot more power-saving products across our entire platform than with Intel," he said.

P.S. What time frame do the Rambus execs have RDRAM within 25% of SDRAM? And did they give a time frame or percentage for RIMMs over DIMMs?
