I have also noticed stocks go up the day after the day they were added or even a couple of days afterwards.

Notice how BRCM went higher days after its addition became effective. I am expecting the same from JDSU. I also think these guys will buy based upon the total shares after the ETEK merger not the listed number according to many internet websites like SI, Nasdaq.com, or Yahoo Finance---ie 87billion. I remember I was playing the Corning rebalancing after its OPTX acquisition. The way the stock moved back then leads me to believe index fund managers will buy based upon on 87billion + 20 billion(ETEK)= 107billion market cap of JDSU.
