If you loved that one, you gotta love this one from our ole Mr. Blodget:but we no longer have confidence in organic visibility or growth," I figure Organic means based upon carbon and that means living things. The company produces mechanical backbone and enabling systems to access the net and throw in a little content initiative with excite. That is inorganic and inanimate so he was not talking about the physical structure. Now, the boneheads at the helm are organic life forms, in a loose sense anyway. He must be referring to a no confidence vote of Mr. Bell! A shame he carries such weight, Mr. Blodget, someone at the company might notice and it might cause more internal tension and more positive action could ultimately result…then things might start looking better. What fun would that be… Merrill Lynch downgrades ExciteAtHome 20, 2000 03:18 PM PALO ALTO, Calif., July 20 (Reuters) - Merrill Lynch analyst Henry Blodget Thursday downgraded ExciteAtHome Corp. ATHM to "accumulate" from "buy," citing the company's failure to meet second quarter subscriber growth estimates. Blodget wrote in a research report that the company missed subscriber growth estimates by 100,000, or about 25 percent of Merrill's forecast. He also noted that the company's page views were down from the first quarter. "This quarter's performance is particularly troubling given the strategy shift announced after Q1, which called for sacrificing near-term profit to invest heavily in broadband subscriber growth and international," Blodget wrote. He also noted that the company now needs to grow its subscriber base at a rate double what it has achieved in any prior quarter, in order to meet its year-end target of 3 million subscribers. "The company (or pieces of it) remain attractive for acquisition, but we no longer have confidence in organic visibility or growth," he wrote. I fail to see Mr. Blodget referring to how excited he is that they could scrape together 3 million with some slight of hand additions from UMG or Chello. He wants to see Bell keep his word the old fashioned way with hard work and a rock solid plan of action to HOOK-UP brand new subs. I am sure he speaks for many, count me among them. I'm still here for the long pull, but I am very pissed at the liars, clowns, patzers and weasels associated with management of this sputtering, backfiring jalopy masquerading as a hot company. Bell had to know this negative crap would hit the fan if they missed numbers last quarter and he screwed with confidence anyway. To the tune of The Grinch That Stole Christmas: 'You're a mean one, Mr. Bell' Borrowed from a tune I play on guitar: Well it was Saturday night and I was feel'in alright drink'in taquilla ameretta on down Me and Miquel on a fast train to Hell in a southwestern border town. Well I feel all in love with a mexican dove while the broadband played a melody she took me back to her place to put a smile on my face sing'in that's all she wrote for me. Oh athm what ya do to me with your long fast cable lines you had a hand on my heart and one in my pocket now I know you never really cared. With those big city nights and and those fast moving lights you made a lotta sweet talk my way but sent me back to my place with a frown on my face say'in that's all she wrote for me...
