It Must Be Jelly Because Jam Doesn't Shake Like That: EMC Continues To Roll
EMC reported second quarter 2000 EPS of $0.19, beating the Street's consensus
estimate by $0.02.
The quarter delivers an important message: the storage market opportunity is
accelerating rapidly, and EMC exploited it with its strongest results in five
years.
EMC showed off its execution, generating 42% of system sales from products
introduced just 9 weeks ago and bringing its expanding international sales
force to productivity.
With a productive sales force and a refreshed product line, Clariion too has
jumped into the fray with bigger things to come.
EMC's momentum shows no signs of abating. We are raising our calendar 2000
EPS estimate from $0.73 to $0.76. We are also raising our 2001 EPS estimate
from $0.97 to $1.00. We have raised our price target from $80 to $105 to
reflect our new outlook.

Dear Gus: I listened to the SUNW CC and yes those statements were made, but they also talked about what a huge market it is out there. They certainly left me with the opinion that room for many players, just emphasized that SUNW is a player too. I see nothing wrong with that. Frankly, I think EMC and SUNW are two of the most outstanding companies on the market. Both have bright futures IMHO. JDN
