Jane, I don't see a lot of interest here in a memorial fund so I thought I would run this up the flag pole and see if anyone saluted.

Why not start a "Edwarda Memorial Investment Club" right here on SI? It would be managed the same way private investment clubs are except everything would be done on SI. There are a lot of details that would have to be worked out but I think the idea is viable.

If this investment club becomes a reality Edwarda's name will never be forgotten on SI.

Jim

I just received this e-mail from the Blue Heron executive director:

Thank you so much for your e-mail messages regarding the
interest of Monica's internet friends in making a donation to Blue Heron Theatre. Monica was on the board for the past four years and was always generous with her money and time. As you know, many long years ago she was
a student of mine at Finch College, a connection which made our recent work together particularly rewarding.

The Blue Heron Arts Center which we developed here in New York to house not only our own Blue Heron Theatre productions but also to serve many other not-for-profit theatres is flourishing. Like all arts organizations, however, we are very much in need of the support from individuals and foundations. Our wish list is always growing.

At present, the donation of $1000 can purchase a seat with her name. Of course, several thousand ($5,000 would be the minimum) could be used as you suggest for an endowment for new playwrights which would, of course, carry her name as well. For a gift of $2000-5000 we could place a plaque in the gallery acknowledging the contribution.

Although I can negotiate further, I think this tells what is relevant about our options, and so I hope the word is spread. I will myself call attention to where I am now, and start getting in touch with individuals.......
