Bad analogy: I do not have "faith" in alien civilizations, nor do I worship them, nor do I even know if they exist, when or where they exist/existed, or will exist and in what form.

Bad hypothesis: There is no evidence whatsoever for a "faith gene," nor is one needed. Many humans now and throughout history are and have been lazy in their thinking. Many would rather have others do their thinking for them. Add to this the fear many feel when they contemplate the unknown, especially their own mortality, and their inner need for an answer, ANY answer to make them feel more comfortable, and you have the reason for unfounded faith.

Lack of reasoning is the reason we still have organized cults ("traditional" religion) even today.
