Intel's earnings are increasing, their revenues are increasing, their volumes are increasing and their manufacturing capacity is increasing and their CPU performance is increasing.

Paul,

Funny, that's what's been happening at AMD for the past 8 mos. But of course you know that....the value of your AMD shares have increased commensurately.

Paul,

I took a trip to Fry's today. Lot's of 1GHz and 900 MHz Athlon systems on display. A few 850MHz systems were left, but they were all on clearance. It seems likely that 900MHz is the current low end for Athlon. I wonder where it tops out?

AMD's AThwiper would have required a larger power supply and and excessive cooling (for X-box) - necessitating a larger enclosure and greatly increased manufacturing costs for Microsoft.

X-box is supposed to be in the 650-700MHz range. You could take a 900MHz Athlon, drop the voltage way down, and run it at very low power underclocked at 700MHz.

BTW:The fastest PIII at Fry's was an 866MHz "Manager's special". After that 733MHz was the top of the line PIII.

Paul,

And - let's not forget - where is the groundswell of SLudgeHumper hardware and software commitments from ISVs and developers?

These commitments worth less than a used toilet paper.

Didn't Intel commit to all these hardware and software venDors that Itanium would be released in 199? (you pick the year). What has happened to that commitment?

Oh yes, Microsoft had a "commitment" to deliver the 64 bit OS for Merced in 199? (again, you pick the year). FUD, FUD and more FUD.

Pity the companies that bet their businesses on the promise that Intel would deliver. Sun is laughing all the way to the bank.

Intel's earnings are increasing, their revenues are increasing, their volumes are increasing and their manufacturing capacity is increasing and their CPU performance is increasing.

AMD's earnings are increasing, their revenues are increasing, their volumes are increasing and their manufacturing capacity is increasing and their CPU performance is increasing.
