Brian, TI, >The $2.84 billion in sales represents a 19 percent improvement from the year-ago quarter when it earned $384 million, or 23 cents a share, on sales of $2.4 billion.

Company officials also said it expects "accelerating growth" in its semiconductor business in the third quarter and will increase capital spending to meet the surging demand.

Just another piece of evidence that's it's nearly over, huh? Yeah, right. It'd be nice if the business sections started posting batting averages, or earned run averages on the stock analysts, like they do for baseball players. Would have to devise what goes into those stats first, however.

I saw the guy that works for Paine Webber, that predicted 1,000 on QCOM (pre- 4:1 split), on TV recently. Person I was with said 'they still let that guy on TV?'
