Interesting, and probably good discipline too. Where does the 62% figure come from?

Actually, as far as the big calls go, I normally stay away from them too. I'm also not a perma-bear, either; I was quite bullish in the sell-offs of '97 and '98. But this looks different to me. We have major topping patterns on the Dow and S&P and evidence of bear market rallies (wedges) on the S&P and Nasdaq. A 25-30% bear in the Dow and S&P isn't out of the question here, and the diamond patterns could even signal a major top, which means it could be a very long time before we clear these levels for good. It may not come to pass, but it's good to be aware of the patterns and their potential, and adjust for the risk.
