Bertlesmann's acquisitions look very cheap compared to AMZN's past moves - Bert. is buying companies while they are down dramatically from their highs. on the other hand, Bezos and comrades in Bizarro_financial_land purchased several companies for hundreds of millions of dollars in stock and assumed debt. Some of these, such as Planetall, have been dissolved and the acquired assets are now of meaningless value to shareholders. Other investments in vaporware earnings .coms are yet to prove they will ever be worth anything (except a tremendous tax-loss write-off).
