Dave,

You are being way to pessimistic about DDR. Because it is an evolutionary change in platform architecture, it is no longer necessary to have Alpha and Beta test of the systems before a major (1 M) system launch.

This is one of the major benefits of DDR to Via. They no longer have to put their chipsets through extensive testing before volume production. Just think of the huge advantage it gives them over Intel.

I am considering buying one million chipsets as soon as they arrive.

Dave- Re: If Ali's going to launch their DDR chipset Aug 1, wouldn't Tom (et. al.) have benchmarks on their sites already?

Just like the 1 GHz Athlon and Coppermine benchmarks that came out a month before these products were launched? Have you heard of a non-disclosure-agreement?
