Dear Albert:

Re: Sledgehammer schedule speculation:

If Sledgehammer was to be release in H1-2001 (one more credible rumor was June 01 in quantity) then a possible planned schedule for it would be:

1) Rocket or test lots A0 silicon now (not all units functional but can debug interfaces and chipsets, etc.)

2) (1 to 4 respins to fix bugs, complete features, try new things, fix high current loads, etc) taking to Dec 00.

3) Sample test runs (final mask say B0) Jan 01.

4) Test, validate, etc. Q1 01.

5) Start production say Feb 01 (wafer starts).

6) Get shippable chips May 01.

7) If all ok, launch Jun 01. in qty.

Food for thought. If all goes well (no respins needed), intro by 2000 report and late Q1 in qty. More likely, Q2. But, definitely Q3 2001 (as promised).
