Maurice. Physics problem. If an iceburg melts, will it raise the sea level? ANSWER=NO! A given quantity of water in either the frozen or melted state displaces a volune of water whose mass is equal to the mass on the given quantity of water. Now, is no-floating ice melts, that is a different story, The water from that ice moves off of the land and into the ocean, thus raising the ocean level. So the question becomes one of how much of the melting ice is floating on top of the ocean and how much is sitting on land. <gggg> JohnG
