John, Physics Answer. If all the ice is in (or floating in)the water then the melting will actually cause the water level to decrease since the loss of 12% expansion of the 96% (appx) that is in the water currently will offset the 4% that is not. Thus an overall net loss of water displacement.

Now, my question, if the ice is on land and slides into the water does it make any sound if no one is there to hear it?<g>

BTW, Lindy is off line this weekend. I just watched him shakin' it up with the young gals here in Milwaukee. Man that guy's a stud. The girls were after him even while we were talking. What's up with this "swinging" crap anyhow???
