The FCC has mandated that digital signal carriage for IPGs will be at least 12 hours per day.

Mike or Stew,

If you don't mind explaining the above...does this mean that the FCC is mandating that the cable companies and/or networks are going to be required to provide the necessary signal so that IPGs are updated as opposed to the "cooperative" (more or less) situation that presently exists?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Scott

Mike,

I'll try to locate some articles concerning digital carriage of IPG data. Tried this afternoon with the usual suspects ... CNET, MultiChannel, E-Town and CEMA but came up empty. Posted the articles on Yahoo when they were timely but am looking for the quickest route rather than search all the posts. Not being able to recall the time frame does not help but I believe it was within the past 4 months. Lost everything about 6 weeks ago and am slowly building my database again. I hope everyone out there has their data backed-up.

Regards
Stew

Mike,

I guess my time frame was a bit off:

DTV/CABLE BREAKTHROUGH

Parties announce agreement on DTV over cable

2/23/2000

etown.com

The agreements also provide for the carriage of Program and System Information Protocol (PSIP) data on cable systems to support on-screen guide functions in digital receivers. Subject to certain conditions, PSIP data enables features such as on-screen program guides, virtual channel tables, program name and description (for a minimum 12-hour period) and content advisory information.
