I liked it better the old way but I don't blame you
for not wanting to publicize that a good percentage
of the posts on Silicon Investor have nothing to do
with the stock market.

That explains why the usual suspects are now starting up coffee shop threads everywhere except the coffee shop. : O)

Once again you have amazed me.

It was actually at a customer suggestion that we decided to split the two.

Are you publicly stating that you actually take and implement customer suggestions? Is this something new? I think its a first.

And are you also stating that the you only implement asinine customer suggestions?

Who is this "customer?" Do we know him/her?

I'd like to know what kind of knucklehead would make such a suggestion.

In fact, we're going to be adding "Hot Subject" lists for several other categories as well.

Now you're telling me it gets worse.

I guess that's kind of a long way of saying that we are not planning to add Coffee Shop subjects back to the Hot Subjects page - at least as it currently exists

You have taken a premier site and turned it upside down in the name of change. I'm very disappointed in the direction you are taking us. Instead of inclusion you are talking about exclusion. A bad precedent..

Thanks for asking,

Translation: GFY.

Thanks for answering,

Translation: right back at ya.

"It was actually at a customer suggestion that we decided to split the two."

You know, I think I actually remember when that idea came up. The idea, as I understood it, was for the Coffee shop threads to get their own separate, but equal, hot list.

A little bit of space at the very bottom of the title page doesn't cut it, It needs to be just as easy to find as the current Hot Subjects link. Maybe you're planning something like that, but why take the coffee shop out of hot subjects before the replacement is ready?

BTW, bryan, notice I didn't even comment on your post?

You really are a piece of work. You must be proud of your accomplishments.

Are you going to take the "Welcome to SI" category out of the "hot subject" list?

I guess that's kind of a long way of saying that we are not planning to add Coffee Shop subjects back to the Hot Subjects page - at least as it currently exists.

That is really something! On Monday John Busby assured us that the Coffee Shop thread would be there:

W&C GTA shouldn't be there. Coffee Shop should.

Do you all talk to each other? Do you all actually use the site? If you had to use it on a dial up server like some us have to do you would know that during normal use of SI we rarely go to the homepage because we don't want to have to wait for it to load. It takes forever. I always looked at the homepage as being something for new users or potential new users.

It would be so simple to give those who want a Hot Subject option that includes the Coffee Shop threads or a separate Hot Coffee List that I can not understand your reasoning!

Some of the previous posters are correct, you aren't going to see many new coffee house threads. I started my last coffee house subject on one of the other threads last weekend. This decision of SI is going to lead to a lot of off topic discussion on the stock threads.
