Goodbye Windsock.

Mani - Re: Censorship

You and the rest of the AMDroid thread Nazis take a look at your work and smugly find the
work quite commendable.

What a surprise.

But censorship is intellectually flawed. If an idea can not stand the pressure of criticism then
ban the criticism, that makes the idea sound so much better.

Windsock, Mani and thwead,

I disagree that censorship is bad, in fact it is necassary.

My major problem was not that Paul was kicked off, but the way in which he was kicked off.

Some thoughts:

1. There should be a clear and pre-arranged "kick-off" mechanism.

ie 4 warnings and 2 weeks.

And perhaps 1 month next level and then for life.

I am not bothered so much as to what the terms are.
I do object that such terms were not discussed and revealed after the fact.

2. Voting in private.

I am certain Mani is an honorable guy.

However folks should vote and for the record.
No wimping behind closed votes.
And there should be a defined voting period - say 1 week.
What happened in Pauls case was a post for a day or so and then he was booted.

If rules are clear, and enforced in an open environment then we will likely not face this issue very much if at all.

Just my .02,

regards,

Kash

Hi Windsock; Comparing potty mouth Paul getting (unfortunately only) temporarily thrown off this thread to censorship, or worse, fascism, is way beyond what is actually going on here.

Paul is still posting regularly on other SI threads. If he desires, he can start his own thread and moderate it himself. His work has not been censored at all. It continues. You can go read it if you like. Personally, I read his stuff on the Intel thread each day.

Freedom of speech does not mean the right to shout your filthy words into the ear of every possible listener. Nor does it mean the right to intervene in every possible conversation between people who would rather not listen to you.

Probably the best indication that this moderated thread was necessary is the fact that people are posting to it at such a high rate.

-- Carl

P.S. If you really miss the guy, I could start posting similarly...

HAVE YOU BEEN FOLLOWING the ramBUTT's latest news? Looks like InHELL finally was forced to admit that they were having AMD kick their Ath, and are dropping the BUST.

Windsock,

Your posts are not criticism. They are PMS eruptions.

Mani,

The reason I read this thread instead of the old one, is the lack of windsocks, etc. Can be boot this sock, please?

Kap

RE: <If an idea can not stand the pressure of criticism...>

Windsock,

I don't think anyone has expressed any desire whatsoever to censor Paul's ideas, in fact to me it seems almost the universal opinion of the thread that Paul's counterpoints are wanted and welcomed.

Press your hotbuttons if you want and use your buzzwords (censorship) but the real issue is that most of us here will welcome Paul's posts if they are made in good faith (ie. not so full of insults and pedantic distractions that they detract as much from the thread as they contribute)

Regards,

Epinephrine

Mani,

Time to send this type of post to the dumpster.
It should have been earlier.
