nice picket fence grub, apex <g3>

as for the win98 shutdown/restart prob, here is a small piece on it

annoyances.org

that essentially says it may be a driver. either one needs to be updated, or you just installed one that is causing conflicts. that makes sense to me.

you could try running 'system file checker' & 'registry checker' in system tools to see if any system files or reg entries are corrupted. and if you have any kind of utility suite software loaded like norton systemworks, you'd benefit from running components like windoctor and disk doctor.

that's all that comes to mind right now, apex.

good luck

:)

Shutdown mystery ...

Please try this: Create a new shortcut, call it Shutdown or something similar. Right click it and select Properties. In the 'Target' window, put "C:\WINDOWS\RUNDLL32.EXE user.exe, exitwindows" (Omit MY double quotes) and click Apply to save your changes.

Try clicking this shortcut and see if your system shuts down normally. If it works, you can put the shortcut in your Start menu and bypass Start/Shutdown altogether.

Note: If this works, your system will shutdown immediately and without warning or confirmation. This makes this an excellent shortcut for your boss's machine: Just name it FunStuff, BlameSomeoneElse, PassTheBuck, or something sure to catch his attention, like GolfHints.

Cheers, PW.
