Air power alone will not achieve a victory. Case in point, in Kosovo, the Air Force reported around 58 tanks put out of action, but when the ground count was taken, they had only hit 7 real tanks, and wasted most of their bombs on decoys. In the Navy, the problem is not, so much, the number of ships, but the condition those we have are in. The lack of funding has caused a major shortage in replacement parts, and other needed maintanence materials, to keep the needed ship in proper, efficient, combat readiness. The nuclear subs, and attack carriers, are particularly important to national defense. I must agree with you on the subject of scams in the procurement process, and will not be nice about using that word. It is a shame, and disgrace, that American citizens will use national defense as a method to increase their wealth by price gouging, and fradulent activities. Such procedures need to be investigated, ceased, and the perpetrators, both military and civilian, put in prison. If, and when, this is done, there will be enough money to pass around to the skilled personel, and be able to attract new, and better, troops. For instance, why do F-16s, each have a $600.00 ash tray in them?? One small tip of a giant iceberg. As long as the PRC has nuclear missiles, with sophisticated guidance systems, provided by clinton, they are a threat, and Arab countries are increasing their aresenals as rapidly as they can. If we are not prepared, they are a threat. ~H~
