What?!? Microsoft will take royalties?!? I thought it should run Windows-based games... Do they plan to take royalties from web-sites, that deliver their content in an Internet Browser?

With the price level of the X-Box and royalties on using the platform, they can really have a hard time reaching the broad market.

The most popular game today is partly built on free software (Counter-Strike). In most game cafes, most people play that game if you walk by a random day.

If X-box wants to get market from Windows machines, they misunderstood something with royalties. If they just target Sony Playstation, the price tag is important. If they target another market, they first have to find the customers... That's really a long-term investment, where 2nd or 3rd generation may succeed.

Good luck!

It will be interesting to see what kinds of games MSFT can release. Internally they have such a strong 'politically correct' element that anything of potential interest to hard-core gamers is never undertaken. We'll see if the games developers can get past the thought police this time.
