Saying that the Bolsheviks were justified in the way they regarded our system is like saying that the Nazis were justified in exterminating the Jews

Little different. The Germanic xenophobia and hegemonic tendencies extended to all outsiders, not just Jews. The Triple Axis was as much of a marriage of convenience as the alliance of the West was. Do you think ANY real Nazi saw an Italian or Japanese as an equal? Hardy-har-har. After Der Fuher controlled Europe, Il Duce would have been sent packing to the camps as well as everyone else. And the Japanese? They Nazis would have nuked them too as soon as it was convenient.

As for the Reds: The Dictatorship of the Proletariat was supposed to last 5 years, not 75 years. Stalin was just another dictator, and worse than the Czar IMO, but with a better PR firm. Definitely not a revolutionary or a Bolshevik. As a dictator, he wanted to keep power. And expand it.

We played well to the PR firm of the Kremlin because of our positions on Reds (rather than addressing the oppression of minority opinions by oppressive regimes -- oops we were doing that too). No we didn't have purges but millions were living in substandard conditions, dying young, and, yes even being experimented upon. And we supported countries that practiced genocide (Turkey over Armenia). That is an indictment of "My country, right or wrong" mentalities that persisted throughout the 30's, 40's and 50's. Some people still hold those opinions and refuse to see that the U.S. ever did anything wrong.

The Reds were successful in this country due to the bashing of heads by anti-unionist Pinkertons. We screwed up in the handling of labor policy here - that opened the door to the alternative. There was a backlash against the Progressives and they were losing power. By the 20's the elitists had taken the throne. If you were a "peasant" of any color in this country, well tough. Work your long hours in substandard conditions and don't complain. Or our private security will smash your face.
